Hello, my name is Sally and I am the sole proprietor of Calming Soles Reflexology at High Santon, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. I am a Clinical Reflexologist. I studied at the Anahata College of Reflexology and qualified with the Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology, the highest level attainable in the UK. I am proud to have full membership of the Association of Reflexologists and I am fully insured. I run my business from home, where I have a beautiful purpose built clinic. My home is set in a peaceful, countryside location on the outskirts of Scunthorpe. My clinic is within easy reach of local surrounding villages such as Appleby and Broughton and the Town of Brigg
My clinic is welcoming and cosy based at my home, with its cosy, calming ambience and comfortable therapy bed. I want for my clients to feel relaxed and at ease whilst enjoying their reflexology treatments. Clients can experience the wonderful therapeutic benefits that reflexology can offer as I work on their hands or feet!
HOW REFLEXOLOGY MAY HELP AS A COMPLIMENTARY THERAPY ?
- By helping clients achieve a deeper state of relaxation, aiding them to relax and unwind
- Aid in the lowering of stress levels, anxiety and tension, due to the relaxing and calming effect of reflexology treatments
- Many clients have found their overall well-being and mood has improved and that their energy levels increased
- Clients noticed improvement in their sleep quality and sleep pattern
- Reflexology can play a vital role in our wellbeing, as it is relaxing and calming, therefore lowering stress levels, leaving clients feeling more energised.
- By calming the body's "fight or flight"response through a relaxing reflexology treatment, this in turn can help lower feelings of stress and anxiety.
- Reflexology may also help clients in managing their conditions and improve their overall wellbeing, due to feeling more relaxed and energised through having reflexology treatments in order to support them living with their varying conditions.
Stress and anxiety- Reflexology can help to relax the body and aid in the lowering of stress levels, thus having a positive effect on our well-being
Our body is designed to cope with a certain degree of stress, however, long term stress can be harmful to our body systems. Such as, the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, immune, reproductive and digestive systems. Causing issues such as heart problems, high blood pressure, muscular pain, back pain, lower immunity to infections, stomach ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome. Stress may also manifest as psychological problems causing low mood, anxiety and depression. Stress is a physiological reaction to undue pressures.
Reflexology is a non invasive touch therapy, applied mainly to the feet. Touch has been shown to be beneficial as it activates the parasympathetic nervous system that regulates, reduces and calms the stress response. This continues after treatments, leaving clients feeling calmer, more relaxed and happy. In turn, this then lifts their mood due to anxiety and stress levels reducing in a healthy natural way!
We can all benefit from making simple changes to our own lifestyles and to our well-being by :-
- Taking regular exercise- walking, running, going to the gym, pilates, yoga, cycling, swimming etc
- Eating more healthily- having a balanced diet, plenty of fruit and vegetables, avoiding sweet and or/ fatty foods etc
- Making sure we drink plenty of water every day- this is to prevent dehydration and to flush out toxins from the body
- Reflexology may help clients achieve a deeper state of relaxation
- Apllying meditation techniques
- Cutting down on stimulants such as, caffeine and alcohol
- Stopping smoking
- Getting plenty of fresh air
Reflexology treatments are suitable for all ages, from children through to elderly
Other possible benefits may include the following:-
- Circulation improved throughout the body encouraging the optimised functioning of the bodies organs and cells
- Neural functioning enhanced, there are over 7000 nerve endings in the feet, all of which are stimulated during a reflexology treatment. Helping to send signals throughout the nervous system to the brain, organs and glands to encourage balance to the body and mind.
- An overall feeling of calm of the mind and body
Please note: Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. As a reflexologist WE DO NOT claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe, it is a complimentary therapy. As reflexologists we support our clients who are living with conditions. We do not treat the condition, we treat the whole person. As a reflexologist, we do not heal the person; the body heals from within, reflexology helps to bring balance to the body in order for it to nurture and repair itself.
